Classic Label Tip

It's been a while since I shared a Tip Thursday tip with you so I wanted to share my tip on using this fun punch. Are you familiar with the Classic Label punch? It looks like this.

Did you know that if you punch your paper adjacent to the negative space created by the first punch out you will get this nice arrow shape?

And it punches out a lovely shape like this

Of course once you punch it out, you could trim both ends so it is just a cute little strip. This is exactly what I did to make the little strip on this gift bag.

Why was I making so many cute little bags? It was a gift for the Team S.T.I.C girls of course! I love to treat my team girls to little surprises and gifts.

Since I just attended a Stampin' Up event where I was given some new product, it was a great excuse to play with my new goodies and give some away to the Team S.T.I.C girls.

Tip Thursday: Use those scraps in your punch

Do you ever want to use your smaller scraps to punch out shapes but they are just too small to properly hold and adjust in your punch?

Let's take the Jolly Friends stamp set and Jolly hat builder punch for example.

I've stamped my hat on this small square of scrap cardstock.

However, I can't get the image lined up properly in the punch because the paper is too small.

Post it notes to the rescue! I just attach a post it note and use it as a handle.

Now I can get it perfectly positioned for punching and once it's punched, I can easily remove the post it note.

Tip Thursday...The Fine Tip Glue

Have you used the Fine Tip glue pen before? (item 138309). It's only $9.00 and is perfect for putting on little sequins or putting some glue on the back of those skinny die cuts.

The fine tip gives a lot of precision. It is certainly a VERY fine tip!
If you've used it you know that the tip has a very small opening for your precision glue needs. The brilliant design of the glue is that the lid has a small needle like point that inserts into the fine opening in order to prevent the glue from drying in the fine tip barrel.
This tiny needle is extremely helpful but it can be a tricky endeavor to actually get that tiny needle into the tiny opening.

For today's tip Thursday I want to tell you a little secret I learned from a customer who was a nurse in her past life.
She said to use a finger to help guide the needle in.
Brilliant!
It makes closing the lid of the fine tip glue a whole lot easier!

Flexibility!

Today's tip Thursday is a reminder about the flexibility of photopolymer stamps. To give an example I'm using this whimsical doodle from the Tin of cards stamp set.

It's meant to be a straight stamp but since the material is flexible, I mounted it on the block in a curved way.

Here is the finished card! Go ahead and play with your photopolymer stamps and enjoy their flexibility! This is one of the cards we are doing at Technique class this Monday. Don't forget to RSVP! We're making projects involving the negative framelit cut outs. There's the 10am class and then the 7pm evening class

adhesive tip

If you know my friend Gail you'll know that she loves the adhesive remover (item 103684)

Gail has sold more adhesive removers for me than I have sold myself.
In case you have never heard Gail sing the praises of the adhesive remover I will tell you how it works.

Oops, you have accidentally put too much SNAIL adhesive on your project. (do you see it peeking out above the sentiment?)

Adhesive remover to the rescue!!!

Just rub over the excess adhesive

Ta Dah! All tidy! No more adhesive mess.

Use the mat!

I've had a couple of questions about how to get a crisp image when stamping and so I thought I'd share my number one tip for getting a crisp image when using photopolymar stamps.

Sometimes when using photopolymer stamps, parts of the image will not appear to stamp well. This happens frequently when you are stamping on a flexible surface like a plastic craft table.

The simplest solution is to use the Stampin' Pierce mat under the cardstock.

Here is a stamped image made with the same stamp and same ink but just had the piercing mat under the cardstock.

I think it definitely looks more crisp and clean.

Give it a try!

Oh! FYI! This tip is meant just for photopolymer stamps. It doesn't work for rubber stamps. I think maybe because the rubber stamps already have foam built into the stamp.

Christmas in July Fun and a Tip

Last week was my annual Christmas in July card class. It was so popular I ended up having to split the class into two sessions so that it would run more smoothly.
First let's talk about the snacks. It's not a secret. I love to eat but preparing food is not really my forte. Nonetheless, I thought it would still be fun to have special snacks for Christmas in July.

I saw these cuties on pinterest. Sadly, my creations did not turn out as beautiful and perfect as the pinterest picture but I think it still conveyed the Christmas feel and they were tasty too!

I pulled out my old Sweet Pressed cookie stamps and my daughter whipped up a double batch of snickerdoodle cookes stamped with Christmas images of snowflakes and mittens.

The guacamole dip was renamed "Grinch Dip" for the class. :-)

I also put out hot chocolate and candy canes to go with the theme. Myself and my Team S.T.I.C helper Vanessa were the only ones to partake of the hot chocolate. I guess the steamy 30 degrees outside made people decline the hot chocolate. Ha ha ha!

Here's one of the cards we made at the class. It uses the woodland embossing folder. (A big seller at the class so if you don't have one, you can nab it on my online store)

I wanted to add some definition to the embossed image so I sponged the embossed portion with whisper white ink.

It was so easy and really made the embossed birch tree trunks pop!

It was that easy! Whisper white ink and a sponge is all that was needed.

Once I rubbed the sponge in the white ink, I then rubbed the sponge onto the embossed image
