Au Revoir Paris

Well my time in Paris has come to an end. It was a lovely several days in this romantic city but I can't wait to get to London and wait for Kevin to arrive so we can start the real vacation: the Stampin' Up! incentive trip!

Here's a few more photos of my Paris adventures with my friend Lee-Ann.  The ongoing joke on this trip was us trying to convince ourselves that we weren't workaholics.

Both of us LOVE our jobs and could easily spend all day working and miss out getting into the city at all.  We both definitely had to work when in Paris and we had in advance tried to coordinate our meeting times so that we would be working at the same time and therefore get out and enjoy the city at the same time.

It worked pretty well but every now and then there would be little experiences that would make us giggle about our hard working tendencies.

For example there was one day we had definitely planned to work in the morning but get out in the afternoon around noon.  When one person finished a meeting and was ready to head out, the other person wasn't quite done what they were working on so the first person started another work task but then the second person would be done but then see that the first person was still working so why not start the next work task.  You get the idea.

Yeah, we made it out the door around 2pm instead of 12...all the while telling ourselves that we were not workaholics.  See!  We can stop work at any time! (even if that time was two hours later than planned)

What often slowed down our travels was a lot of studying of the map.  Generally I left the planning to Lee-Ann and just followed her wise advice.

Anyway, here's some more photos (check out our first day in paris photos Here)!

The highlight of the trip was a cooking class that we took one morning.

The host was a retired chef that welcomed us into her home and taught us three French dishes and we sat and ate together.

It tasted so good!

A second highlight was that I met up with some French demonstrators from France.
I wanted to connect with them and hear about how they do their business and if it was very different from us in Canada.
Neither of them spoke English at all so there was none of the talking to me in English nonsense that I got from the waiters here, which I complained about in my previous blog post.
It was a very fun meet up and I didn't think we had any trouble communicating at all so I was very happy with my French conversation experience.  Sadly my confidence was shattered the next day.

My friend Lee-Ann celebrated her birthday when we were together this past week.
Of course we had to go out for dinner at a marvelous restaurant.

I know some people think it is strange but it's not unusual for me to have hot water to drink when others order coffee.
I asked for hot water in french and it arrived in what I would consider a little container for pouring milk.  It seemed weird to drink out of that so I asked for a cup but he ended up bringing me a glass which I thought was strange for me to pour my bowling hot water into a glass.

These are the experiences which make me think, clearly my French is very sub par if I can't even get a proper drink in a restaurant.

Lee-Ann and I made sure to have fondue

and more gelato and macaron!

Lee-Ann and I did well on our plans to eat our way through the city.
We enjoyed a walk at a local park near our air b and b and then packed to be ready to leave for London the following morning.

Well, au revoir Paris!  I'll be back! I love this city so much I must come back!
In the meantime, it's time to start getting excited to see Kevin as he'll be flying into London to join me for the Stampin' Up! Incentive trip portion of the trip.  Thanks for dropping in!
