A Baptism Card

Yesterday was what I call a glory day!  A day where there were so many reasons to celebrate God's goodness that it gives me a glimpse of heaven's glory so that's why I call it a glory day!

The day started with the usual heading to church for the 9:30am morning service but the service was special because there were several people who were choosing to get baptized.

One of those people was the daughter of my dear friend Gloria.  Gloria and I along with a third friend (Lee-Ann)  were roommates back in university and we've always enjoyed a special friendship.

I had to sit and make a special baptism card for Gloria's daughter of course!

I really enjoyed making it and I hope she enjoyed receiving it!

I enjoyed listening to the testimonies of the baptismal candidates so much I decided to stay for the 11:30 church service where there were different people choosing to get baptized and I got to hear more wonderful stories of how they were touched by God's love. 

It was a taste of heaven! 

Then in the afternoon and evening, Kevin and I attended a wedding.  The bride and groom were young and beautiful.  The groom is just 23.  Since Kevin and I were the same age when we got married, it brought back happy memories of my wedding and I was so grateful for how our marriage has endured these past 20+ years. 

I haven't been to a wedding in a very long time but it was so heartwarming to see how this couple was entering into their commitment wholeheartedly and with a view that their marriage can be sustained by their humble service to one another and depending on divine strength from God. 

So that was my happy glory day yesterday!

A baptism card

One of the great things about my business is that I get the opportunity to meet all different people.

I know that my life is richer because of the people I have met and I hope that I make a positive impact in their lives as well. 

One of the lovely people I have met recently is the mom of a friend of a friend (does that make sense?)  

Anyway, we had got talking a few weeks ago and I learned that she was getting baptized today. 

In the Christian community, baptism is a great celebration of someone’s commitment and desire to follow the ways of Jesus. 

This calls for a card! 

When thinking of what to make I reached for the Hold on to Hope stamp set and matching thinlits. 

I used copper foil paper to cut out the cross and used the shimmer grey ribbon (free salebration gift) to embellish.
I know it's hard to see but I stamped the cross image on the smoky slate oval so there was a bit of depth under the copper cross cut out.

This card needed stamping on the inside too!

The sentiment from the Blossoming Basket stamp set seemed perfect and I added the scripture sentiment as well.

Creating for Christ Recap 2018

Last week was the Creating for Christ event.  This is the third year for this event and it was such a blessing to me to be a part of the experience.  It was definitely good for the soul!  I felt so blessed and refreshed after the event and I hope all the other ladies did too!

The theme of the event was the Truth and power of God's word.

Here are some photos.

We started with listening and singing of some great inspirational songs.  I was so grateful for Kevin and Laurelle who helped provide the music. 
(yes,not only does my husband bring me cardstock to events that I have forgotten, he also plays guitar.  He's just all around nice and talented too!)

We also enjoyed stamping projects of course! Here's a few things we made. 

Each project tied in to the theme and related to some truth from the Bible. 

This mini pizza box holds little cue cards inside with scripture verses. 

This beautiful box held a little tea light.  We held up our tea lights as we enjoyed the final song.

And this 5X7 creation can be put in a frame to remember that we are sustained and cared for by God himself!

There was also some personal sharing on the theme from myself and also my friend Missy Shipman, a demonstrator from near Syracuse NY.  

It was a fun time!  It was also a special time and a sacred,holy time. 

I am so grateful to everyone who attended and took the class 2 go and of course Laurelle, Kevin, Missy and Gloria.  Together we all enjoyed a taste of heaven right in the middle of the usual busy, stressful, crazy life.  

Creating for Christ was good for the soul! 

I'm keeping February 9th 2019 open in my calendar in case I feel led to help organize this event again.   I hope you will be able to join me. 

Hope

The past two years in February I partnered with a beautiful Team S.T.I.C girl, Marianne to help organize a special event called Creating for Christ. 

Both times I left the event feeling so blessed and grateful!  I felt that they were just sacred moments of love and learning!

Although this year Marianne said that she wasn't able to commit to helping, I still feel very compelled to hold this event because I feel that there is a message that needs to be shared and it was so special last year.  It's a safe space to enjoy crafting and honesty and to make space to focus on Jesus.

I hope you will be able to join in for this year's Creating for Christ event! It will be on February 3rd and the RSVP date is January 15th. 

I had to increase the price a tiny bit from last year because in the past the church donated some space for us to use for the event but I really feel better paying a rental fee for use of space so I factored it into the registration fee since I don't want to take advantage of the church's generosity.  (especially because we probably leave behind a mess of dimensional backings and scrap paper on the floor!)

I got very excited when I saw the new Occasions catalogue because there is a Christian stamp set that I know we will use at our event.  The set is called Hold on to Hope and it is so versatile and beautiful!

Since I have finished my holiday events, I allowed myself to dig into my box of new product so that I could play.  Of course the new Hold on to Hope stamp set was one of the first that I pulled out.  I had no agenda with the stamping.  I just wanted to play and see what happened.
Here's what I made:

I kind of went crazy with the Champagne foil paper.  This is not a cost effective card.  However, it just made me think of how extravagant God's love is and His love is not a penny pinching kind of love.  So....lots of champagne foil paper seemed in order.

There will be worship time, inspirational sharing and stamping.
