Center Step Card

Here's a couple of examples I made of a Center Step Card. They are fun and easy to make

and give such a cute 3-D effect. Let's see if I can remember the dimensions:

10 1/2 X 5 1/4" cardstock

Cut a slit 1" in on either side of the cardstock from 1"-6 1/4"

Turn the cardstock 90 degrees and score from the edge down to the slit at 1", 2",and 6 1/4"

Do the same on the other side.

Score between the slits at 5 1/4"

Fold at the score lines and ta da, you've got a center step card.

This fits into Stampin' Up's square envelopes.

Just a reminder that these are the last few days to get the retiring items. Kimono kids and Just Buzzin By and a couple of the stamp sets going into retirement at the end of this month.

A season of crumminess

I have been meaning to sit down and make cards for a few friends. This card is for a friend who has been going through a bunch of really hard things over the past few years. I would call it a really crummy season in her life. I just know things are going to turn around. I have faith that she will experience a season of peace soon. In the meantime, I wanted to make something to encourage her a little bit. The inside sentiment says: it will get better.

I make things all the time but even for me it takes that little bit of extra intentionality to make something for someone in particular...just to show them I care

Here's the card details: the card base is marina mist with tangerine tango cardstock and then the retiring greenhouse gala dsp. The circle is that huge punch (sorry can't remember the size...2 3/4" maybe?) and the strip is from the perfectly polka dots simply scrappin kit. The FYI stamp set is retiring but seemed perfect for this occasion.

Happy Thanksgiving

So many things to be thankful for. I love the sentiment on the Day of Gratitude Stamp set: Gratitude can transform common days into Thanksgivings.

So true. For me, my mental attitude can determine whether I am joyful and thankful or cranky and grumpy. So far, my thanksgiving weekend has been...well...something to be thankful for!

Friday was a day of celebration. Two of our pastors at Cornerstone Church went through an ordination process and their ordination ceremony was on Friday. There was of course an after party (roast) that was so hilarious I spent much of it laughing. By the end of the evening, I was laughing so hard, tears were rolling down my cheeks. I'm hoping somebody will post some video footage of the evening on you tube so I can show you. The antics of our now "reverend" ministers Kevin and Jeremy were just too funny for words.

I spent Thursday at Lil Explorers stamping. It was wonderfully quiet and refreshing. I think the idea of my stamping there was to meet new people and introduce them to my business however not a single person showed up. I didn't even mind as I had my ipod on and was making these treat bags for each person for Thanksgiving dinner. Aren't they cute? I put a cellophane bag inside with chocolate pretzels.

Just Because Stamping

I'm getting ready to go back to work and had the kids in camp/care today. I finished what I wanted to accomplish today in terms of work so although there is dishes to be done etc. I treated myself to a quiet moment stamping. I"m not preparing for a workshop project, or a club project or I don't have to make something for the kids friends...I"m stamping just because I want to. Ha! The markers were great for this project. It added some bright easy color. Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist and Pear Pizazz are the colours I used.

Spinning!

I got this great card in the mail and I loved it so much! It is a spinner card. See how the image slides and spins? I think it is so cute and the Just Buzzin' By set is perfect for this card. Of course, as soon as I received it I was thinking that I NEED to try making my own spinner card. My son's birthday is coming up and I wanted to make him a special card. PERFECT! thanks Freida for the inspiration!

Check out below for the card that I made. I CASE'd this from something I saw on the demonstrator website but I changed up the colours so they would co-ordinate with the greenhouse gala dsp. The card base is daffodil delight. The ice cream scoop colours are marina mist, daffodil delight, pear pizzazz, and peach parfait.

more swapping

With the release of the new catalogue, we had to have a team swap. (this is the first time we've had a team meeting) Here are our cards. The notecard above was created by Lyne. I love the use of the 2-step bird punch.

Here's Shannon's card. Simple is always superb. She's using the Love you Much stamp set. Check out the cute brad embellishment on the flower and the edging using the eyelet border.

Here's Clara's card using the Pick a Petal set in a unique way to make trees! Check out the polka dot dry embossing using the texturz plates for the Big Shot. Matches the dots on the trees!

Here's Esther's stunning card using the new cherry cobbler colour and the Elements of Style set. It's so rich and gorgeous. I can definitely see using this colour at Christmas. She's also using the new newsprint DSP.

Here's my card. I'm going DSP happy with the Greenhouse Gala paper. I love how the dsp lasts forever! The sentiment is from the Perfect Punches set. I have an addiction. Whenever I see a stamp set that co-ordinates with the punches, I buy it. I figure the time it's going to save me, is worth every penny spent.
