Camping part 1

Thank you everyone who inquired about my camping experience.
Camping part 1 is done.
5 more campsites and camping experiences to go!
My husband was very enthusiastic in booking campsites!
He was also very enthusiastic in purchasing camping equipment.
I guess it helped get him through the lockdown to plan and shop online.

See how enthusiastic he appeared around April when he was happily shopping?
This is the photo of the day he came home with a kayak.

I am in tune with myself.  I know I do not enjoy camping. Kevin asked me what I don't like about camping so he could try to create a more positive environment for me.
I explained that I don't enjoy feeling cold, I don't enjoy feeling wet, I don't enjoy toiletting in a communal comfort station that might be a significant walk from my campsite, I don't enjoy bugs, I don't enjoy worrying at night about having to walk in the dark to find a toilet and I don't enjoy all the set up and take down and planning involved.

Sorry I sound like a real party pooper but let's be honest: how can the above be considered a vacation????

I tried to have some of Kevin's enthusiasm rub off on me.

Here's some photos of our three day adventure.

This campground was just about 45 minutes from our home so it's a good, gentle way to start.

We felt pretty pleased when we were all set up

To help ease any anxiety about toiletting we had our own privacy tent with a camping toilet inside.

Beach time!

Chicken quesadillas for dinner cooked by my daughter.

The following day there were torrential downpours! I was concerned our tent would float away there was so much water pooling under our tent!

We decided to grab our food and come home but we tried to pretend we were still camping!

Jiffy pop on the camping stove.

After sleeping at home and a shower, we headed back to enjoy the beach once more and pack up our tents.

I was not at all surprised by the rain.  I already had a very realistic perspective on camping so I was the only one who brought my big rubber rain boots.  :-)

I'll be home working for a few days before we head off again on camping adventure part 2!

Thank you to so many of you that reached out to see if we were okay after the huge rain and also to many of you who gave me camping advice.

The best part was being with my family.
(I still don't like bugs)
However the very large warm sleeping bag and deluxe cot that Kevin purchased for me in his shopping spree worked very well.

Thanks for dropping in!
