A Virtual Creating for Christ

Another first time experience occurred this past weekend: Creating for Christ: Online.

Each year for the past several years I've been honoured to host a Creating for Christ event.

Of course crafting special projects is a part of the day but there's also music, sharing, and bible reading.

It's always been a special and unique event.

You can check out photos from last year's event HERE

I really wrestled with whether this event could be done online but I had a strong sense that I should still offer it...even though I didn't yet know the theme.

Well, it all worked out.  Of course I missed seeing the ladies in person and we missed sharing a meal together (I was trying to figure out if there was some way to do it online but decided to forego the meal part in the virtual experience)

Generally the theme was about faith instead of fear.

We read the bible passage where Jesus calms the sea and used this image of a Rembrandt painting to help us focus as the bible passage was being read

I also gave each participant a little pillow gift that was meant to be related to the theme but also a little fun:

I wanted this little decorated pizza box to be a reminder that Jesus is the one who can calm the storm in our lives and in our hearts. I thought the boat from the By the Dock stamp set was a perfect reminder of the bible passage we had read together.  The sentiment comes from the Ridiculously Awesome stamp set.

I wasn't quite sure what to put inside.  Initially I wanted to put a little cushion in the box since the bible passage talks about how Jesus was in the boat lying on a cushion.  I thought the cushion would be a reminder to turn to Jesus when the storm hits.
However, it wasn't easy to find a mini cushion to go inside the box.
The idea of the Fisherman's friend cough drops came to me and I couldn't help but smile.  It was just a little funny.

We're talking about how we shouldn't be afraid and here we are in a pandemic and the last thing we want is any pandemic symptoms like coughing...
But if we do cough...we have the ultimate Fisherman's friend...Jesus: the one who calms the sea!

Typically the projects at Creating for Christ are unique as well.  The projects are meant to be encouraging and uplifting.

Here's a couple of the projects we made:

I thought this mini paper pumpkin box would be a lovely gift to give to a friend.  You could fill the box with special Easter treats or special encouragement gifts.
Who wouldn't want to receive such a lovely decorated box?

This box was inspired from a project I saw from Julie DiMatteo.  It is meant to hold merci chocolates or a gift card.  I also thought it was the perfect size to hold little memory verse cards.

Well, that's a bit of a recap from the annual Creating for Christ event.
It was such a gift to enjoy the time together this past weekend!

Getting together to connect is so special!  Make sure to check out my April class schedule and don't forget to register.  Registration deadline for April classes is the 1st of the month!
