We had a great technique class on Monday. I just have to share one of the cards we made using the super cute snail mail designer series paper.
This technique is called the floating frame technique.
I cut out all the images I wanted from the DSP and arranged them as desired on the white layer of the card. I then used Glad Press and Seal and placed it on top. I gently pressed the cut out images to the press n seal so they all stuck to the plastic and then lifted the plastic press n seal up and turned it over so that I was looking at the backside of all the precut dsp pieces. I placed LOTS of dimensionals on the back and then flipped the plastic over and positioned it on top of the white later so that all the dimensionaled (is that a word?) snails adhered to the paper. I then gently removed the press n seal and "VOILA!" Floating snails! If any snails were overhanging the white piece, I trimmed them off so that the edges were flush.
In class we made three floating frame cards.
I received the feedback that it was maybe one of my more challenging classes but people loved the new technique!
I offer technique class each month. The next one is Feb. 22nd!
You can see another example of this technique in the January to June mini catalogue on page 61.
It could be a bit tricky to see but just like the snails, the butterflies look like they are floating off the page!
Hope this post inspires you to create a floating frame card
