Father's Day gifts

Here's a belated post showing what I made for Kevin for Father's day.  Since I wasn't home for Father's day (I had taken off to Kansas...) I really wanted to make sure to show my appreciation to him before I left.

It was also an excuse to play with my new stamping supplies!  :-)

Here is the father's day card I made for him using the Mediterranean moments stamp set, the new post script background and Teeny Tiny wishes.  (supply list below.  click on any of the images to take you to my online store)
Maybe this image doesn't seem very masculine but I thought it was a good choice for Kevin because he has a red scooter like in the stamp!

Here's an old picture of us on his red scooter.  Kevin can never turn down a bargain even if the bargain is an item that he wasn't needing in the first place.
I believe the story with this scooter is that someone was giving it away free because it was broken.  Free is my husband's favourite price so he took the scooter.  He tried to fix it up.  It now kind of works but the battery is a bit iffy.  I believe I have seen him riding it and needing to add some foot propulsion power.  My husband with his antics makes me smile.  That's why I had to use the Mediterranean moments stamp for his card.

Here is the gift I bought him.  I figured he can wear these crazy socks since he's kind of a crazy guy.

I felt that I also needed to make some gift packaging for those fine socks so I whipped up a gift bag using the Eastern Palace Specialty Designer series paper and matching stickers. (Here's a video on how I made the gift bag)

The Fall Stamp Camp was a Blast!

I can't wait to share with you some photos from the fun fall stamp camp that happened this past Saturday.
It was such fun and positive energy!

The day started with 3 stamping demonstrations which I found inspiring.  I learned ways to use product that I wouldn't have even thought of!

After the demonstrations we dove right into the stamping.

I love how stamping brings people together.  I saw lots of talking and laughing going on through the day.  I saw existing friends chatting away and enjoying time together but I also saw many new friendships being made!

It was a full house!  The event sold out before the deadline! Everyone made 10 different cards using new holiday product! There was even one person there who had NEVER stamped before.  She was totally blown away by the experience and in case you wondered...she also left with her 10 completed greeting cards. The fact that she had never stamped before was not a deterrent at all!  

A delicious lunch was included in the event.

We also had hundred and hundreds of dollars of raffle prizes! Check out the smile on this lucky winner!

Sweet Easter Lamb

Just thought I would share a sweet Easter card.
It uses the Easter Lamb stamp in the Occasions catalogue. (item 140740)   The colours I used were blushing bride and lost lagoon.
The lamb was stamped on crumb cake cardstock, punched out with the two inch circle punch and I used the white gel pen  (item 105021)to colour in some of the dots.

It feels like Easter comes early this year.  Time to craft those Easter cards and treats before it's too late!

Using Sponge Daubers: Watch it Wednesday

Here's a super quick video from Stampin' Up! on one way to use the sponge daubers. How did Stampin' Up! know that I just used sponge daubers on one of the make n takes at the Ladies Retreat Weekend?





The way that I used the sponge dauber is to tap it in whisper white ink and then press it on the kraft box.  Since the sponge dauber is circle shaped, there was no need to use a mask.

A little Spring

Easter will be here soon!  I just thought I'd get a little spring in the air by crafting Easter cards in my basement this week.  There's nothing like taking a day to relax in my craft cave to make me feel better.  Honestly, all this snow and cold weather is really dragging my mood down.  I can't wait for spring and summer!

Busy with a bit of this n that...

Sorry I've been quiet the past few days. I've been busy with lots of good things though!  Here's a belated St. Patrick's day card I'm sending to a friend.  I really only have one person that I would send a St. Patrick's Day card to.  I'll never forget she celebrates because many years ago at a class we were looking at the occasions catalogue together and I pointed out a single St. Patrick's Day stamp and said something along the lines of "Who would buy that? Nobody sends St. Patrick's Day cards".  Then she calmly said "I do.  I'm Irish".  Ahem. Yes.  Okay, that was a pretty bad Stampin' Up! demonstrator moment.  Nonetheless we still stamp together and I ink up my St. Patrick's Day sentiment from my Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp set just for her.

I've also been busy preparing for my baby's birthday.  Wow!  He's not a baby anymore.  Gotta do school friends party, family party and of course do something on the actual birthday.  It's like a three day affair celebrating birthdays here around our house.

I've also been busy trying to get ready for my sale-a-bration finale activities.  My first online party is giving me a bit of the jitters because me and technology aren't always the best of friends.  I'm planning on keeping it simple but hopefully still inspiring.  Get on Facebook and find me so I can invite you to my first ever online party!  Here's a sneak peek of one of the projects I'll show.

Happy valentines day!

What a great day! It started with a kiss from my valentine. He gave me an envelope and I could tell from the fine, smooth finish that this was a stampin up envelope. Could it be? Did he make me a card? He hasn't made me a valentines card in many years...ever since my stamp collection got so large it made him feel completely lost.

I loved the card! I was so impressed! Check out all the repetition stamping he did with the serene silhouettes stamp. Then he did some punch art with my circle punch and made a moon. Then he freehand cut a picnic table. The moon, trees and picnic table were all there when he proposed to me many many years ago up in Kenora, Ontario. Cute card right? He even found my dazzling details and glittered up the sky!

After he left for work and the kids went to school, I got to work on what I wanted to give my kids and hubby for valentines. Yummy macaroons packaged up pretty in the tag a box containers.  Thank you owl builder punch for the cute factor!

Hello baby!

Just found out that I am an auntie again! My brother and his wife just had a little baby boy! It's exciting because for their previous two children they have been in New York. Now they are here in Toronto so I get to be in on the excitement! I'm heading down to see this fresh newborn....mmmm that yummy newborn smell..,, but I had to whip up a card...can't go without one!

This occasion calls for something big: shimmery white paper! Sadly you can't really see the subtle shimmer in the picture but its there!

Easy spring sampler

I'm supposed to be doing a quick community tv spot on Monday highlighting Easter crafts. I've started playing with different things. Here's a quick and cute Easter card and tags using the spring sampler set in the spring catalogue.

A technique sneak peek

My technique class is fast approaching on Monday July 9th.  Masking is the technique theme for the month.  Here's a sneak peek of a couple of cards we will be making.  I had so much fun preparing these cards because it was fun to do that little bit extra to make the cards special.  I still have more masking card ideas so hopefully I will have more time to play stamps.  I'm out of town relaxing with the kids at our time share this week but there's always the weekend! 

Hello Doily, Hello Bling!

I was thinking about glitter the other day and how women love things that sparkle and shine. I dug in my drawer, pulled out my heat and stick powder and got to work.
This was the result.  The fine cosmo glitter was essential here!

I love how the detail of the stamp still came out even after pouring the glitter. I worried that it would just be one gigantic mess of glitter but it was so great.  Would've been even better if I remembered to use my embossing buddy.

Come on spring!

I am ready for warmer weather and more sunshine. Making an Easter card makes me feel like that spring sunshine will be here sooner than later.

Celebrating and Sale-a-brating

Sorry, long time no blog! I felt like I was enjoying valentines celebration over many extended days. Kevin and I went out for dinner the saturday before valentines just because and then Kevin surprised me by hiring a babysitter on valentines day so we went out again. Then we went out yesterday because we had bought tickets weeks ago for a fundraiser dinner and dance thinking that it would be a good valentines outing. I'm not complaining. Eating out with hubby and no kids is always a treat.

The other thing that kept me busy (besides eating out every other night) was getting ready for a private mom and daughter class. There were 12 pairs of people there so it was a big crowd. A huge thank you to my helper elves (team stic girls samantha and shelley) who helped make the night go much more smoothly.

It's hard to see but this uses the elementary elegance set stamped in night of navy. The first edition designer series paper felt like a perfect fit with this stamp set.

All by Myself!

At the December Team S.T.I.C meeting, Esther had made a passing comment prior to her technique demonstrations.  She said "If you're like me, when you want to make a card, you sit down and start creating it."  I thought to myself.  Nope.  That's not me.  When I want to make a card, I sit down and turn on my computer to see what internet sample I am going to copy today.  To give myself a little credit, sometimes the final product is somewhat changed from the internet sample but still...I depend on other creative people for my inspiration.  If I sat down and just tried to make a card without a sample in front of me, I might never get anything finished.  I decided the other day to challenge myself and try to make a card all by myself.  Here's what I came up with.  You don't want to know how long this took me to make.  The card kept morphing and changing and I kept having to rip up cardstock I had already glued down because I realized it needed something else.

This card uses the twitterpated fabric and buttons along with the take it to heart stamp set.  The background is the wheel called I {Love} Love.  I am contemplating whether this is an acceptable swap card for the upcoming Leadership Convention.  Here is the problem with being a copy cat stamper like myself.  When I swap at these Stampin' Up! conventions, I have a fear that I will copy a card from the internet as my swap card and then actually swap with the person who "invented" the card in the first place.  If it were me, I would be flattered that someone copied my card but maybe the person will be indignant that I have violated them...copying their work of art.  So, to avoid that fear altogether, I am hoping to come up with a swap card that is a Genevieve original.  I'm going to keep playing and see what I come up with.  Time is running out.  Leadership is in 2 1/2 weeks!  Yikes!

Now here is something that is easy to create without a sample.  The occasions mini has a wonderful simply sent kit that is absolutely fabulous.  They make amazing gifts and are also perfect to make super fast cards when you are in a rush.  The kit even comes with a box to store all your wonderful creations.  These two cards were made by me in a flash without any sample.  The stickers that come in the kit just make it so easy.

Sniff this Card!

Isn't this a cute card?  I think it could be for a guy or a girl.  I tried really hard not to pretty it up too much since it's always good to have a card on hand that I could give to a boy or man.  It uses the new sweet shop specialty dsp from the occasions mini.  The stamp is from the button buddies stamp set and you can't tell from the picture but this card smells like cherries!  Yes!  New beautiful scented embossing powders that you can use on your card.  How cool is that?!
