Fundraiser Pictures

A very very belated post regarding the Room for a Child fundraiser that I participated in 2 weeks ago.  It's very hard to put into words how special it was for me to be a part of Room for a Child's first fundraiser.
I was happily chatting and helping people during the event I forgot to take many photos but here are a couple that I have.  The room of 45 participants was full of friendly chatter and this was the first time stamping for quite a few of the women.  It didn't matter.  Everyone was done their 10 cards in 3 hours and everyone left happy and pleased with their creations and that their afternoon together was for a great cause.

Here is a before and after picture of a young boy's room that Room for a Child was involved with.  We don't realize that there are many children and families right here in the GTA that live without simple luxuries like blinds and pillow cases.

Here is an excerpt from the email I received from the founder, Dawn Gillespie, after the fundraiser:

"We raised $530 in the raffle. So with our share of the registration fees, ... commission on sales of supplies plus generous donations, we met our goal of $2000!

 This morning we began delivering furniture to the 2 families we are currently helping, one of whom has very little beyond what they arrived here with on May 2.

Your support and generosity are helping Room for a Child continue."

On its way...another way!

I love all the fast and easy card kits that stampin Up! Has available. Don't get me wrong, I like to play, and create as much as the next stamper but sometimes it makes me super happy to open a kit and just make the card. This card is from the "on its way" simply sent kit from stampin up.

There were a few extra leftover pieces from the kit that I couldn't resist playing and creating this fast andfresh card. 

I used the kit pieces and added some things of my own (like that fun speech bubble from the cute clips).

Paper Pumpkin is Family Fun for everyone!

I'm still loving my monthly Paper Pumpkin Subscription.  February's kit was a big hit in our house.  My daughter and I started on it together.  Then the littlest guy came running in saying "I want to do Paper Pumpkin"  I couldn't say no!  I loved the craft of decorating these cute bags.

Here's what he made.  The new (annoying) talking toy called a Furby has invaded our home.  He loves this toy so much he made a bag for it.

There were so many extra pieces in this month's kit I was able to do some other fun things.  Here's a scrapbook layout.

...And a card.  The cute stamps that came in the kit this month were just calling to be used in another way.

Stampin' Up Pop N Cuts playtime

There are so many things that I love about my monthly technique classes. It's a personal challenge to create projects and techniques that I have never done before. It's also fun to share what I've learned with others and see their own pride with their creations.  Frankly sometimes when I am preparing for stamp class I get so excited with what we are making that I do a little happy dance. I might even clap! Smile.

Anyway, enough about my happy stamping experiences. I want to share a couple of the projects we did at technique class this past month. 

We played with the Pop N Cuts die.  We learned how to properly place the deco label insert into the die so we get this cool pop out effect.

The You're Lovely stamp set is so pretty. Remember it's free with a $60 purchase during saleabration.

Technique class projects are always a little more multi-step than my basic card class. If you look closely at the card above, we heat embossed the images and there was also some dry embossing with the argyle embossing folder and a little of the pool party twine from saleabration.

The Pop N Cuts die base can also be used in many different ways. This is what convinces me to buy it. I didn't even glance at it when it first came out in the catalogue. Then I went to convention...everyone seemed to be making cute little things with it. Okay! Fine! I will buy it. Here's one of the ideas...it's a gift card holder

I love the fact that the die makes little slits that the decorative corners can slide into.

Once you roll it through the big shot, score at 1", 3 3/4" and 8 1/2"

Lots of thanks!

I feel so thankful for all the great joys and blessings in my life. I just sat down this past weekend to make a bunch of thank you cards.

Since I was making a bunch I just wanted something clean and simple. I'm using calypso coral paper and the sentiment is a new stamp set called lots of thanks. 

Things have been so busy lately I haven't had time to update you much on my life. I've been busy with lots of mommy things: orthodontist appointments (yes, my oldest is getting braces), field trips, school plays and the like. Today was a great day because I got to spend the day with my littlest guy. He's been asking to go see dinosaurs so I promised I would take him to the ROM.

The whole excursion downtown taking the subway was thrilling for him. Then seeing all the big dinosaur bones was like a dream come true. Even though sometimes everything is crazy busy I'm so glad I have jobs that allow me to do the stay at home mommy stuff (even if it means I'm up late at night doing other work) I wouldn't change it!
