Fun! Team S.T.I.C Style

One of the highlights of the month is the monthly Stampin' get togethers I hold especially for my team girls. Just thought I'd share some of the samples and techniques from our time last night.  We had three make n takes last night:
This one is similar to one of the make n takes from convention. It uses the new Affection Collection stamp set from the holiday mini catalogue. It's not just for valentines day!

This card uses the international bazaar designer paper and I love the new fancy fan embossing folder!

Speaking of the international bazaar designer paper, here it is again.  This stamp set is called friendship preserves and has images that are perfect if you make preserves and bottle jams and sauces.  I used the thank you image to make this simple card.  I'm a little mad at myself for not buying the matching paper piercing pack at the same time as a little paper piercing around the die cut would've added that little bit extra wow.  No matter, I"ve ordered it now.  :-)

Not only do we have fun stamping at our monthly team get togethers, we also learn new techniques.  Here's a card that Paula made.  She taught us how to make flowers using a circle punch and snip little triangles out of it using the pennant punch.  SO COOL!  Isn't it a pretty card? The stamp set is called Lacy and Lovely.

Here's a technique I learned from Dawn Griffith at Convention.  I don't know what she calls it but it's a way to use ribbon in a unique manner that adds a fun texture to your card. The white gel pen adds some definition to the shape.  These cards use the blossom punch out shape

You can use different punch shapes.  Here's one with the ornament punch:

And some water with a little gift from momento mall: a pretty pen in stampin' up colours.

I also had all my swaps on display and all my freebies from convention so the girls could oogle and enjoy.

A Reason to Smile

My friends Joanne and Lynda invited me to come and share at their Stampin' Up! team meeting tonight.  I jumped at the opportunity because I always thought it was silly that we only saw each other at Stampin' Up! events in the United States yet we live only about 2 hours from each other (Joanne and Lynda are in the Hamilton-ish area)  I couldn't wait to see them.  Pretty much one of the first things I wanted to see was Joanne's stamp room.  I loved it!  It was so spacious but also it was decorated in such an inspiring way.  There were samples everywhere.  The pictures don't adequately capture everything but hopefully you get the idea.  She has a room where she stores her stamps and stamps for herself, and then a larger adjacent room where she has her classes.

Joanne had prepared different samples using the soon to be released Reason to Smile stamp set.  This stamp set will only be available in July and the best part is that it's only $5 with a $60 order.  A $5 stamp set?! YES!  That's a reason to smile for sure!

I couldn't resist!

I fell in love with the occasions mini catalogue the moment it arrived in my hands.  I paid a fortune to expedite everything so I could have things sooner.  Then when the box arrived I ripped it open but stopped short of taking everything out.  I felt I didn't deserve to play with all my new stamps and accessories until I'd finished my Christmas crafting.  Sadly, I'm still behind schedule and haven't made the teacher gifts yet or finished some other family gifts.  However, Kevin was out at a meeting and the kids were in bed and I just didn't feel like any more Christmas crafting.  I decided since yesterday was my designated sabbath/rest day, I should do what makes me feel relaxed and happy.  YES!  In a mad rush I grabbed a stamp set, some new big shot dies and of course that incredible new pleated ribbon and ran down to my craft cave.  This is what I made. 



I think I am in love with that pleated ribbon.  Here's a close up.
