Just thought I would share another card we made at my most recent club meeting. I thought it would be nice to do a valentine card but maybe not in the traditional red, white and pink colours. This card uses an emboss resist watercolouring technique with the watercolour paper and aquapainter. One of the club girls said she felt like such an artist making this card and it almost felt like she should sign her name in the corner. The stamp set used here is called Artistic Etchings. It's very vintage and romantic. I think this card would still be appropriate for other occasions besides valentines.

As usual I made two cards. I couldn't decide which I liked better but the club girls all preferred the one with torn edges and the antique brad. (LOVING my antique brads!!!!!--check out 5 of them on the front cover of the idea book and catalogue alone)

The designer series paper that I used as a mat is the new First Edition paper found in the occasions mini. I think this paper is so versatile. Happy Valentines Day everyone.

chocolate projects

I had a great time at my Chicks n Chocolate class. My classes are a great way to make projects and get creatively inspired. Here's a couple of the projects that were a part of the class. Part of what I wanted participants to experience is the versatility of the chocolate chip and early espresso colour. Here's a card we made using crumb cake for the card base and cardstock of blushing bride, peach parfait, cajun craze and chocolate chip. Someone exclaimed that they would never consider putting those colours together but they look great. Surprise!

Here's a little treat holder. I was so excited when I learned how to make this flower using the eyelet border punch. So easy and I've noticed that every flower comes out unique. Baja Breeze and Early Espresso look so elegant together. A square ice brad, a few stamps of the small medalliion from the Artistic Etchings set and some early espresso grosgrain ribbon finish off this project.

We all had fun eating chcolate chip cookies, chocolate timbits, chocolate dipped stawberries and drinking chocolate milk. What a pleasant evening!

Crystal Etchings

I was playing around with my crystal effects and I used the large medallion motif from the Artistic Etchings set and heat embossed in black. Then I placed a drop or two of pink pirouette ink refill into some crystal effects (crystal effects gives a thick, shiny lacquer) and applied it onto the motif using one of the kids little paintbrushes. I punched it out using my 1 3/4" punch. The motif sat on my desk for a few days as I didn't know what to do with it. I sure loved the dyed crystal effects. Here's the card I finally came up with. Gotta love the scallop trim punch and that the pink pirouette colour is back!

Here's an easy card using the new Friends Never Fade set. I love how this set co-ordinates perfectly with the greenhouse gala dsp. The new marina mist colour from the subtles family is so soothing.



This is my favourite of the bunch. A new in-colour: Concord Crush. It's a rich, deep purple. I used the lattice die for the big shot after stamping en francais background stamp on the whisper white paper.

This was the hostess evening extra make n take. It uses the new in colour pear pizzazz for the main card base. Then the pink is called "blushing bride". It is a great colour. Not as bright as pretty in pink but not as soft as pink pirouette. I used the flight of the butterfly stamp set using blushing bride ink and regal rose ink and adhered it to the designer label hodgepodge hardware. Cool huh?



Here's a little treat cover using the new daffodil delight colour from the brights family and the greenhouse gala dsp. The sentiment is from the perfect punches set.

If you wonder how I came up with the colour combinations, I sometimes used the new colour coach which is a great tool. It is new and improved and allows you to hold different chips of colour together to see how it looks. It also gives you suggested color combos on the back.
