Happy Things

I've been feeling so greateful this Christmas season.

There's probably too many things to list but right up near the top of the list is that I have family members to love and a hobby that makes me happy and a job that keeps me challenged and inspired!

Just thought I would share a few photos of recent happy things.

Last week we drove to Waterloo and picked up my daughter

She and I stayed overnight at the hotel at the airport so we could get up and grab a flight to Quebec for our mom and daughter mini ski vacation.
Here we are saying good bye to the boys when they dropped us off at the hotel

Then a flight early the next morning!

I rarely get to spend much time with her and are interactions now are mostly transactional (mom can I borrow the car? Mom we need to pay my tuition, Mom I'm coming home next weekend can I borrow the car? .  LOL) So I was eager to build the relationship a bit by having interactions that were longer than 5 minutes long.
This little mini vacation was perfect for us.

We were at the new all inclusive Club Med resort in Quebec.
the food was fabulous.

The first day of skiing was great!  I didn't die (I'm not really a skiier)

Michelle thought she would try snowboarding for the first time since the lessons were included.

She picked it up fairly quickly but its still a challenge.  She says it's NOTHING like skiing.

Here I am with my instructor Charles

Unfortunately we were rained out the next two days but no matter...we just slept and ate the rest of the vacation away.  It was a perfect way to spend casual time with my daughter and hear all about her life, her friends, her adventures at school.

When I got back home, the Christmas crafting rush was in full swing.
Typically my husband Kevin crafts once a year.  At Christmas.  He likes to make treats for his teachers at the school.

Since he does something every year, I wasn't caught by surprise this year.  I already knew what we could do.  I quickly cut my beautiful paper into 6X6 squares and had him running it through the Cracker Treat Die.  Then we used the oval punch to attach a sweet sentiment.
These are so easy to make and have a real wow factor!
Kevin said his teachers were impressed that he helped make them.

Last night I met up with a group of ladies I've know since the kids were babies.
We used to get together every week for playdates with the babies.  (Really it was sanity for the new mommies)
I think it's awesome we keep in touch and it's so great to hear about how our kids are doing. We've known those now young adults since they were babies!

That's just a few of the happy things I've been up to!
I hope you get some time to do happy things this season.
It's the perfect time to remember the reason for the Christmas season: Jesus came to bring light and hope to a dark world.  I love living each day with joy because there is always hope!

Thanks for dropping in!
Merry Christmas!
Happy Holidays!
