stampin4fun: A few photos and stories from Thunder Bay

Hi friends! I’ve arrived in Thunder Bay! After the long pandemic season, it seems like such a privilege to come up and volunteer again with Northwind Family Ministries.

We brought some items to donate so that took up a lot of luggage space. Kevin had the bright idea of buying some large bags that you can kind of suck air out with a vacuum so I could pack more in my luggage.

Our service team of four from Cornerstone Church were all very excited to head on our way. We had heard of weather issues and flights getting cancelled to Thunder Bay so we really prayed that travels would be smooth!

We were so grateful when we arrived and all our luggage arrived too!

As soon as we arrived we were invited to help serve and chat with clients who came for the weekly gathering program

Then we had a two hour training.

Safe to say when we finally got to our lodgings, we were dead on our feet! I was ready to crash into bed!

We got up early this morning and then whisked off to the office to help prepare for the first of four play days (mini fun fairs) that the organization runs in the low income housing units in Thunder Bay.

These fun fairs are a great way for Northwind to build connections with the people in the community. Many of the Indigenous families that first arrive to Thunder Bay from the remote reserves, start in these low income housing units.

Through these fun fairs, families get connected with Northwind and their various programs.

Today was a full day!
