A weekend of this and that!

I had a great weekend so I thought I'd share some photos with you.

We headed over to Ottawa this past weekend.  The goal was two-fold: to see our oldest son who has been doing a one year coop term in Ottawa and start the university research process for my daughter who is in grade 11.

Although the drive into Ottawa was not fun due to the snow storm on Friday (why is it still snowing so much in March!!??) we made it there safely and had a pretty relaxing weekend.

We lounged around in the hotel room on Saturday until Michelle and I walked over to the campus and the boys went shopping.

The campus tour led by a student was very informative.  My daughter is interested in either engineering or science so it was great that she got to see the science labs and the tours were grouped by faculties so the student tour guide was able to give first hand experience of what it is like in the science lectures.

What I found funny was that my daughter was less interested in the actual program and seemed more interested in the extra curricular sports options and the perk that Mont Tremblant wasn't far away so she could go skiing.

She doesn't get her interest in sports and outdoor activities from me!!

She keeps talking about wanting to go to the University of British Columbia since I suppose there are lots of outdoor activities to enjoy given the mountains and ocean not far from the campus.

I keep trying to redirect her to consider the academic programs at each university! 🤣😂

After the university tour we just relaxed and then met our son for dinner.

We used it as an excuse to celebrate that he just landed a summer coop job.  He's excited to learn some new things in a different job environment.

It was so nice to enjoy dinner out with the family!

On our way home on Sunday, we decided to stop at the Big Apple.  It's a bakery, tourist attraction, and eatery all in one.

It seemed appropriate to buy a pie since Monday was Pi day. (3.14)

By Monday all the relaxing was over!  It was back to work for me although it felt weird to have the rest of the family home for March break.

I did manage to finish packing and shipping all the March classes.  I have to say, one good thing about the pandemic is that it forced me to be more streamlined with my classes. It was very satisfying to have all the packets in their little bags waiting for pick up/shipping.

Don't worry if you missed my March classes.  I've got some great classes lined up for April!
I'll paste them below.  Remember, the registration deadline is April 1st. and you can register for any of the April classes HERE  Due to supply issues I always recommend registering early!

Monday night I had French club (part of the course I'm taking at Humber College). It's a tad frustrating that no matter how much I learn and practice french, there's still so much to learn and remember. For example, remembering which verbs require "etre" in the past tense was something I think I learned first in elementary school but I still felt the need to take a photo of this slide when it showed up on the conversation club screen last night.

I know I'll never be a native French speaker, but I still love the language and love chatting it up with any Francophones I can find!
Thanks for letting me share a little of my life with you!  Let me know in the comments what you enjoyed last weekend!
