Man theme Card Swap!

Here are the pictures of the cards from the swap tonight. I tell you the pictures do not do the cards justice! They were all beautiful and unique. Pei Pei's card needed three photos to show the front, middle and inside of the card. I wish I could make commentary here about each card but I don't know how to format my commentary to be adjacent to the card so you'll just have to imagine what wonderful things I would say about each one! See if you can spot the different techniques: Dry embossing, heat embossing, wax resist, tearing, chalking, masking, brayering, paper folding, watercolouring...I am so impressed! Way to go ladies! For those who didn't participate this time around, be inspired for next time!

bird on a branch punch ideas

Here's a couple of cards I made using the bird on a branch punch and the sweet pea designer series paper from the occasions mini catalogue. (okay, I confess the card on the left was yet another card that didn't make the cut for the man card swap) I'm very happy that the punch can be used to make tulips as it is perfect for spring. (I CASE'd the tulip idea from something I saw on the demonstrator connection website.)I'm thinking the branch part might work for antlers come Christmas time...
I love the new epoxy brads that have been released. The use of the colour families in the brads make it co-ordinate well with the paper and inks.

farewell dasher, hello thoughts and prayers tree

So, I finally figured it was time to put away my Dasher decor element mirror. (Christmas passed two months ago!) However, there was a nail in my wall just waiting for another decorative piece. Here's what I put. Do you like it?

didn't make the cut for the card swap

Can you believe I"m still trying to finalize what card to do for the upcoming "cards appropriate for men" card swap?

I wasn't happy with this one because I thought it was a little too cutesy. I think I might do it for my son's birthday invites.

I am happy with my sale-a-bration freebie: this Animal Stories set. I can see it being really useful for baby cards and kids cards. It was probably too ambitious for me to try to turn it into a man card...but I still think it can be done.

Occasions mini cards

Here are a couple of cards that were make and takes from a workshop I did yesterday. I wanted to use stamp sets from the occasions mini catalogue but also wanted two different styles. The one on the top uses the level 2 hostess set "Picnic Parade". The images are perfect for watercolouring and they are so cute! I think this is a good set for Easter! The card on the bottom uses the Vintage Vogue set. Some of the ladies did some beautiful envelopes to go with this card.

Some press for married lovers

So with all the press Tiger Woods and other famous people get for their love lives, I thought I'd share what I made for Kevin for Valentine's day. I used the My Digital Studio program to create this picture. I then made another one exactly the same except reversed the bubble to the pink birdie and changed the words accordingly to "I'm in love with a married man"...My husband. I then saved them onto a memory stick and went to a local printer who happily printed them on white T-shirts for me. We wore our matching T-shirts on Valentines day. It was fun. I'll upload pictures later.
Okay, yes, one day I might actually use the My Digital Studio program for a scrapbook (which is what I thought I would use it for most) but in the meantime, I am having fun creating e-cards, bookmarks, and now T-shirts.

Gen's small screen debut

My 5 minutes of fame! Not enough time to show everything I wanted but still fun to do.

Flight of the Butterfly

I haven't taken out my Flight of the Butterfly set in so long (been too busy creating with the new sale-a-bration and occasion mini sets). On a whim, I grabbed the set and some scraps and this is what happened. I also used my shimmer paint/rubbing alcohol mixture to spray a shimmery sheen over the entire card. It's been a while since I created something without studying a thousand samples on splitcoast so this felt good.

Here's a quick card front that I made using My Digital Studio. I made it earlier in the month in preparation for Valentine's Day and as a guide for club members to CASE if they desired. I was able to print it at costco for a mere 0.15 and I mounted it on some night of navy cardstock. I think this is the way to go if I have to do a large amount of cards. It saves time but still has the unique, one of a kind factor that I love in handmade cards.

This is CRAZY!

I have just entered the world of blogging! I was looking for a place where I could easily share pictures of my projects or other projects/cards that inspire me. As well, it can be a place where I can share some of my personal thoughts for those who care to know.
We'll see how this goes! I am not great with anything involving computers.
